(SEATTLE) — The Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) announced that Seattle attorney J. David Andrews will be presented with the 2010 President's Award. The President's Award is given annually in recognition of special accomplishment or service to the WSBA during the term of the current president. WSBA President Salvador A. Mungia will present the award at the President’s Dinner, to be held on September 22, 2010, at the Lake Union Cafe in Seattle.

Andrews is senior counsel at Perkins Coie, where he focuses his practice in the areas of labor and employment law and litigation, representing management in both the public and private sectors. For 45 years, he has represented major companies, including Boeing, Puget Sound Energy, United Parcel Service, timber companies, and banks, as well as more than 125 smaller and emerging companies and nonprofits, school districts, and other public entities. Andrews is also a nationally recognized speaker and writer in labor and employment relations, lawyer ethics, law office management, and state and federal civil litigation.

Andrews is dedicated to serving the legal community. He has served on the Legal Aid for Washington Fund (LAW Fund) Board of Directors and Executive Committee, including a term as president; on the American Bar Association Board of Governors and as its treasurer; and on the American Bar Foundation Board of Directors and as its treasurer. He has served with the American Judicature Society since 1976, and was its director from 1985–1989; as a trustee of Cornish College of the Arts since 1987, including a term as chairman of the board; and has been a board member of the Endowment for Equal Justice since 2006. He was nominated as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1980.

In his award letter to Andrews, President Mungia wrote: "From the time we met in the early 1990s on the LAW Fund Board and throughout the intervening years, you, and what you stand for, has influenced my values and my abilities in a profound and everlasting manner. My being able to present this award to you allows me to say, 'Thank you.'"
