Innovative Minds Program Selects First Recipient

Northwestern University student Christopher Wilmer is the first recipient of the Innovative Minds award, a process that started a few months ago and included dozens of submissions from Northwestern University students.

Wilmer, a Ph.D. candidate in Northwestern University’s Chemical & Biological Engineering Department, had an idea to use solar disinfection to create clean drinking water in developing countries. He was awarded $10,000 through the program to turn his idea into a reality.

The Innovative Minds program was created in an effort to assist students who are working to develop an innovative solution to a societal challenge. Wilmer’s innovation is part of a global solution to help nearly 1 billion people who do not have access to clean drinking water.

This is a great step for the Innovative Minds program, congratulations to the entire team!
