Pro Bono

| Overview

Throughout our century of service, Perkins Coie lawyers and staff have been dedicated to giving back to the community.  Sharing our time and talents to help those most in need is an important part of our culture and helps define who we are as individuals and as a firm.

Our dedication to pro bono service runs deep. Our Pro Bono Counsel manages the program across the firm and our firmwide Pro Bono Committee supports the initiatives that enable the program to succeed. Additionally, we have a generous policy through which associates receive full billable hour credit for the work they do on pro bono matters. We also offer a Community Service Fellowship where selected associates devote up to six months of their full-time efforts working for a community organization on a significant public service project.

As part of our commitment to pro bono service, we offer our attorneys and staff a wide array of opportunities that allow them to follow their passions and use their high-level skills, backed by firm resources, to provide critical legal representation to individuals and nonprofit organizations in dire need of help.

In the past year alone, we helped low-income individuals acquire some of their most basic needs, including stable housing and mental health services. We represented veterans seeking disability benefits. We assisted Holocaust survivors seeking pension payments from Germany. We guided immigrant youth and adults fleeing persecution and trying to obtain legal status in the United States. And we helped children and adult victims of domestic violence.  In these and many other areas, through direct service representation and systemic advocacy, we have and continue to focus our pro bono work on giving a voice to those who are most vulnerable.

We also provide much-needed services to nonprofit organizations, offering assistance with their intellectual property rights or guiding them through labor, real estate or corporate governance issues.

Through our pro bono legal work, as well as our other public and community service efforts, Perkins Coie continues to change lives and transform our communities.
