Over the past 30 years, Shane has handled a wide variety of commercial cases, with a strong emphasis on litigation of environmental matters in the mining, aerospace, and electronics industries. He has litigated commercial cases ranging from disputes over the operation of a nuclear power plant to commercial contracts and arbitration clauses, to the ownership of valuable dinosaur fossils found on a Montana ranch and the constitutionality of university tuition policies and real estate transactions. In the environmental area, Shane has litigated and advised on matters under CERCLA and RCRA, and their state equivalents, the Clean Water Act, the Nation Environmental Policy Act, the Uranium Mill Tailings Reclamation Act, and “toxic torts” under state law. In addition to leading litigation matters, Shane regularly advises businesses on environmental matters, including plant and mine closure and reclamation, and conducts due diligence for real estate and other transactions. He is an elected member of the American College of Environmental Lawyers. Shane represents businesses large and small, as well as individuals, and practices nationwide.
