Overview

Michelle Kemp, firmwide co-chair of the Patent Litigation practice, is a partner in the Patent Litigation, Intellectual Property Litigation, and Litigation practices. For more than 25 years, she has focused her practice on intellectual property litigation, including licensing and other technology agreement disputes, and other complex commercial litigation. Michelle manages high-stakes cases involving a wide range of technologies, including energy, microprocessors, medical devices, antibody libraries, genetically engineered plants, and mechanical devices. Michelle has also handled complex commercial arbitrations, including patent and other high-value disputes relating to commercial agreements in different industries, including energy, constructions, and healthcare.

Michelle also consults with clients regarding patent licenses and technology transfer issues as part of larger agreements. She represents both established international companies and startups in patent infringement, licensing disputes, trademark, trade dress and unfair competition litigation. Michelle is also trusted to represent university technology transfer offices in their most significant intellectual property disputes.

Michelle has served in significant, firmwide leadership roles, currently as co-chair of the Patent Litigation practice, and previously as office managing partner of the Madison, Wisconsin office and as a member of the firm’s executive committee.
