Overview

Fabricio (Fab) Vayra provides intellectual property (IP) and internet policy counsel to global leaders in various industries, assisting them in establishing and safeguarding their trademarks, copyrights, and online identities, as well as developing and implementing IP enforcement programs. Emphasizing technology, media, telecom, sports, automotive, and luxury and retail goods industries, Fab brings to his client relationships a deep understanding of their technologies and industries, enabling him to partner with clients to achieve their legal and business goals.

Fab’s more than 20 years of experience include 11 as in-house counsel and over a decade in private practice. He advises on cutting-edge trademark and copyright law issues as they apply to emerging business models, new technologies, advanced media, internet privacy, and enforcement strategies. Fab is known for providing a ‘soup to nuts’ approach to trademark and copyright issues. These cover U.S. and international trademark counseling, clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, prelitigation enforcement, and federal litigation support and copyright counseling, protection, and enforcement strategies. He also manages expansive IP enforcement programs, IP purchase and licensing matters, complex settlement negotiations and agreements, and large corporate restructuring issues relating to IP. He has been integral to some of the world’s most public and famous rebrand and product-naming initiatives.

Fab’s practice also emphasizes domain name matters, internet governance policy strategies, and related regulatory advocacy, as supported by his deep involvement in policy debates and stakeholder negotiations in these areas—making him the natural lead for the firm's Internet Governance & Regulatory practice.

Fab has built a reputation as a trusted source with sound business approaches to IP and internet policy issues. As a result, he has been called upon to represent numerous clients and the brand-owner community before various government agencies, constituency groups, and industry trade associations, including Congress, The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the Intellectual Property Constituency (IPC), the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the International Trademark Association (INTA), to name a few.

Fab has been recognized by numerous organizations and publications, including as an "Intellectual Property Trailblazer" by The National Law Journal and has been named multiple times as a top lawyer for trademark law and generic top-level domains in the World Trademark Review WTR 1000 rankings.
