NEW YORK, NY (December 4, 2014) - Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Dennis Hopkins, a partner in the firm’s New York office, has been named a 2014 CUP Catalyst Change Agent | Law by the Council of Urban Professionals (CUP) at CUP’s 5th Annual Lawyers Forum held in New York City on October 30, 2014. 

The CUP list highlights and celebrates accomplished leaders across the legal sector who have achieved extraordinary success in business while simultaneously making a significant impact on their community.  It comprises 10 professionals, between the ages of 35-50, who serve at senior levels of organizations, and who have been nominated by their colleagues and peers.  This is the third year CUP has presented this honor.

Dennis, a partner in Perkins Coie’s Litigation and Patent Litigation practice, focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent, copyright and trade secret litigation.  He has significant experience in all phases of IP litigation, including mediations, trials and appeals.  In addition, Dennis’s practice includes counseling clients on issues relating to litigation strategies and intellectual property management.  He is also experienced in brand and domain name protection.  His IP experience includes drafting and negotiating agreements and licenses, preparing written opinions of counsel, and providing general IP counseling to clients, including counseling on patent, copyright, trade secret, brand management and other trademark matters.

His membership in professional organizations include the Metropolitan Black Bar Association (Board of Directors); Practicing Attorneys for Law Students (PALS) (Board of Directors); American Bar Association, Section of Litigation (Intellectual Property Committee); the Intellectual Property Owner’s Association; the Federal Bar Counsel; the New York State Bar Association; the City Bar Fund Board of the New York City Bar Association; and the Asian American Bar Association of New York (Advisory Committee).  Dennis earned his J. D. at the Rutgers School of Law and his B.S. in Physics and Nuclear Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
