Employment Counseling & Preventive Law/Training |
Overview
Employers routinely face a dizzying array of federal and state statutes regulating the workplace. Employers must comply with more than 180 federal laws administered and enforced by the Department of Labor (DOL), the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and state agencies. These laws cover virtually every aspect of labor and employment, including workplace safety and health, union activity, equal employment opportunity, family and medical leave, plant closings, and layoffs. State laws, often different from and sometimes stricter than their federal counterparts, add another regulatory layer.
Our Labor & Employment lawyers routinely work with our clients–either through their in-house lawyers or directly with human resource professionals or other managers–to help navigate this thicket of regulatory and legal restrictions. We partner closely with our client contacts to respond to specific questions, address specific issues, work through troublesome situations or guide the enforcement of client policies. Serving our clients as a trusted counselor is one our most treasured roles and one that we are proud to play day in and day out with clients large and small.
Our lawyers regularly publish articles, conduct training, speak at seminars, and conduct employer audits throughout the country.
To ensure that our advice advances our clients' business goals and legal needs, we encourage our lawyers to invest in client relationships by touring plant facilities, meeting the key management team, and reviewing key policies and procedures–all without charge. This ensures that we have a solid foundation and understanding of our clients' businesses and the demands under which they must operate.
