Eric Barber is an associate in the firm's Litigation practice and focuses on insurance coverage and appellate matters. His insurance coverage practice includes representing policyholders in disputes with their insurance carriers under a number of different types of insurance policies (directors’ and officers’; errors and omissions; commercial general liability; blanket bonds; builders’ risk; and data breach). Eric has advised policyholders on a wide range of insurance issues stemming from securities and derivative litigation. Other matters include seeking insurance coverage for liabilities related to the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme; loss of employee life overseas; construction mishaps and defects; damage from Hurricanes Ike, Omar, and Rita; and environmental contamination. Eric has also evaluated insurance coverage issues related to data-security breaches.
Eric is co-chair of the Excess and Umbrella sub-committee of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association.
Eric also has extensive appellate experience. He has worked on appeals across a broad spectrum of substantive areas of law and in various appellate courts around the country, including a number in the U.S. Supreme Court and the Wisconsin Supreme Court. He is on the board of directors for the Appellate Practice Section of the Wisconsin State Bar.
Eric is a 2009 recipient of the Western District of Wisconsin Bar Association’s Pro Bono Service Award.
