Overview

J. David Larsen is a partner with the firm's Real Estate & Land Use practice. He represents lenders and loan servicers in a wide variety of financing transactions, including mortgage loan originations, modifications and assumptions, ranging in size from $5 million to over $1 billion. David also represents lenders and loan servicers in loan workouts, including the structuring and implementation of resolution programs for problem loans and loan portfolios, and court-appointed receivers in the management, marketing and disposition of distressed commercial properties. In addition to his domestic real estate finance practice, David has handled cross-border, real estate secured loans involving Canada, Mexico, Taiwan and South Africa and the acquisition and disposition of commercial office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, warehouses, industrial facilities and apartment buildings.

In addition to working with national banks and finance companies, David has experience originating real estate loans for several major insurance companies. David’s vast real estate experience includes development of multistate military housing privatization projects, commercial leasing and representing national retail and office landlords and tenants in many U.S. jurisdictions. David has handled retail and office leases aggregating well over 10,000,000 leasable square feet, including work on a large number of leases with national anchor tenants. David served as a team leader for an international grocer client in its retail rollout in the West, working on leases for many of its approximately 300 U.S. locations.

Valued by clients for preventing distractions from derailing deals and understanding how a project aligns with a client’s overall business, David helps to streamline transactions and creates efficiencies in the process. Within Perkins Coie, David is a member of the Associate and Counsel Evaluation Committee.
