Overview

David Taylor draws on more than 30 years of experience as a trial lawyer and litigator to defend clients in high-stakes criminal and civil fraud matters. A former Assistant United States Attorney and the former chair of the firm’s White Collar & Investigations practice, David has led the defense of major corporations, directors, officers, and employees in matters throughout the United States. These matters include white collar criminal matters, SEC enforcement proceedings, False Claims Act (FCA) litigation, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigations, securities and corporate governance litigation, and director and officer liability litigation. David also regularly leads internal investigations and advises clients concerning the design and implementation of corporate compliance programs.

David’s experience includes the defense of a Fortune 200 military contractor in False Claims Act cases in federal courts in Texas and Mississippi; the defense of a Fortune 200 telecommunications company in False Claims Act cases in the Northern District of California; the defense of a Fortune 200 manufacturing company in SEC proceedings for alleged accounting fraud; the defense of a board of directors in contempt proceedings before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; the defense of a Fortune 200 biotechnology company in a criminal investigation and civil case under the False Claims Act in the Western District of Washington; and the defense of a former senior officer of Countrywide Financial in litigation and government investigations arising from the collapse of the country’s largest mortgage lender.

David is listed in Chambers USA (Band One for Litigation: White Collar Crime & Government Investigations) and in Best Lawyers in America, and he has been listed as a Washington “Super Lawyer” for more than 10 consecutive years. He has received the ACLU of Washington’s Civil Libertarian of the Year award for litigation to protect the Constitutional rights of indigent criminal defendants. David also speaks and writes regularly on topics relevant to his practice and has received the prestigious Burton Award for Legal Writing.
