Christopher M. Schultz, Of Counsel with the firm's national Litigation practice, currently serves as Co-Chair of Perkins Coie's E-Discovery Services & Strategy national practice group. Mr. Schultz focuses his practice on business and intellectual property litigation, with a special focus on complex electronic discovery issues. He regularly consults with firm clients (from FORTUNE 50 corporations to emerging businesses) on the legal and technical issues surrounding electronic discovery, including devising and implementing document retention procedures, identifying technical and business process solutions for collecting and processing electronic and traditional data, and coordinating the review and production of such data by firm, staff and contract attorneys. Mr. Schultz also has substantial experience in consulting with in-house counsel concerning document retention and remediation issues, negotiating with opposing counsel concerning both the nature and scope of electronic discovery in pending litigation and investigatory matters, together with motion practice and other legal proceedings in connection with same. Additionally, Mr. Schultz often leads the request for proposal, negotiating and contracting efforts with major third-party electronic discovery vendors in the United States for the provision of electronic discovery services to firm clients.
In addition to his active legal practice, Mr. Schultz devotes substantial time to his role as Co-Chair of the firm's E-Discovery Services & Strategy Group. In this role, Mr. Schultz directs the provision of complex e-discovery services to firm clients, including utilization of the firm's dedicated document review facilities and staff attorney resources in both Seattle and Phoenix. A dynamic speaker and presenter with over five years of college-level teaching experience, Mr. Schultz is a frequent presenter of continuing legal education and other seminars concerning electronic discovery.
