Christopher (Chris) S. Coleman

Chris Coleman, a partner in the firm's Litigation practice, focuses on complex and sophisticated business litigation, with a special emphasis on trademark and other intellectual property litigation and out-of-court dispute resolution. Other areas of emphasis include privacy law, antitrust, business torts, securities, product liability, construction litigation and employment litigation. Chris's experience extends to state and federal court matters, as well as arbitrations, emergency injunctions, jury and non-jury trials, and appeals. Chris also advises clients on records retention and dispute avoidance issues.

Chris has helped clients, both large and small, in resolving intellectual property disputes in matters such as the following:

  • Prosecuted trademark and trade dress claims on behalf of nationwide hotel chain against various former franchisees. Best Western adv. Former Franchisees, Arizona and California Superior Courts.
  • Defended international mining company against allegations of patent infringement relating to heap leach mining. Richard G. Krauth and R.M Wade & Co. v. Phelps Dodge Corp., U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
  • Assisted in efforts to defend semiconductor tool manufacturer against allegations of breach of contract, fraud, trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, conspiracy and unjust enrichment. The technology at issue was Advanced Process Control algorithm and software for semiconductor fabrication equipment.
  • Defended newly-formed temporary staffing company against allegations of misappropriation of alleged trade secret customer information. On Assignment v. Healthcare Staffing Specialists, Arizona Superior Court.
Chris has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law, Arizona State University, teaching courses in Trial Advocacy and Introduction to Lawyering, and has also taught a Course on Professionalism for the Arizona State Bar.
