Perkins Coie understands that your career is about choices, not trade-offs. Named one of the country's "100 Best Places to Work For" by FORTUNE magazine for 11 consecutive years, we provide a foundation upon which to develop your legal skills and practice. Our firm culture encourages you to define and pursue your definition of success, while providing support and mentorship during the process. We offer not only professional development and career training programs, but also a personalized mentoring program in which a more senior lawyer takes an active role in helping you achieve the highest level of success and become an important member of the Perkins Coie team.
Perkins Coie emphasizes the training and development of its attorneys. We employ a flexible partnership track with multiple points of promotion. Each attorney is considered for elevation to counsel, senior counsel or partner when his or her experience, with the firm and in practice, makes it appropriate for him or her to be considered.
Promotions to counsel typically occur after an associate has at least six years of credited practice. Associates may also move to a senior attorney role after six years of practice. After eight years of credited practice, including two years as counsel, counsel are eligible for promotion to partner or to senior counsel. Although promotion is a career milestone and evidence of a strong legal practice, all of our attorneys continue to be valued by the firm for their experience, legal skills, mentoring and the administrative contributions they provide.
