Overview

Perkins Coie understands that your career is about choices, not trade offs. Named one of the country's "100 Best Places to Work For" by FORTUNE magazine for ten consecutive years, we provide a firm foundation upon which to develop your legal skills and practice. Our firm culture encourages you to define and pursue your definition of success, while providing support and mentorship during the process. We offer not only professional development and career training programs, but also a personalized mentoring program in which a more senior lawyer takes an active role in helping you achieve the highest level of success and providing support and assistance to help you become an integral and active member of the Perkins Coie team.

As your career with the firm progresses, we emphasize the development of new partners and of counsel from the associates within the firm. We employ a flexible partnership track wherein each associate is considered for partnership when it appears that his or her experience with the firm and in practice makes it appropriate for him or her to be considered. This generally occurs between the eighth and ninth year after law school graduation. While promotion to the partnership is a career milestone and evidence of a strong legal practice, senior associates continue to be highly valued by the firm for their experience, legal skills, mentoring and administrative contributions they consistently provide while building their legal practice.

Other highlights of our associate program include:

  • Seasonal social and networking events
  • Quarterly associate information meetings with the managing partner
  • Annual fall orientation retreat for new attorneys and junior laterals
  • Bi-annual mid-level associate retreat focusing on practice and business development.

Firm Culture and Overview

We believe that diversity of thought and experience will enrich our dynamic work atmosphere. We have created a company culture that is based on collaboration, devotion to serving our clients and mutual respect. New employees are integrated into the firm through our extensive orientation, new user training and mentorship programs. We are committed to a fair and equitable workplace where each person is a valued member of the team.

Perkins Coie is highly rated for the quality of its client service. This strength stems from two key factors: a strong emphasis on service that starts at the top of the firm and permeates throughout, and an extremely collegial culture that emphasizes collaboration in support of client needs.
