Overview

Dr. Babak Tehranchi is a partner with the firm's Intellectual Property practice. Babak's practice focuses on patent prosecution and counseling in technology areas including wireless technologies, cloud systems, optics, artificial intelligence, digital rights management, software, electronics and medical devices. Babak also focuses on preparing and conducting post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office including inter partes review (IPR), post-grant review (PGR), covered business method (CBM) review and patent reexamination.

Babak has over 10 years of industry experience as a research scientist and engineer. Prior to law practice, Babak worked as a senior research scientist at Eastman Kodak R&D Laboratories, developing various optical, printing and digital cinema systems. Babak also worked as a senior staff engineer at Verance Corporation, a leading company in digital watermarking, and was a coinventor of a new watermarking system that became part of an industry-standard for audio visual content.

Technical areas in which Babak has extensive experience and knowledge include: image and video processing, optics and photonics, medical instrumentation and diagnosis systems, mechanical and electromechanical systems, wired and wireless communication systems, semiconductors, information security, data storage systems, and printing systems.
