Bates McIntyre Larson

Bates McIntyre Larson is a partner in the Business Litigation subgroup of the firm's Litigation practice. She focuses her practice on commercial litigation and appeals, with a focus on distressed real estate foreclosures and workouts, professional liability, and product liability matters.

Bates has extensive experience with CMBS securitized loan workouts, and has prosecuted foreclosure actions for commercial properties ranging from hotels, office buildings and shopping centers to sports complexes and multi-unit residential complexes. She has successfully petitioned for the appointment of dozens of receivers. She has prosecuted claims for breach of guaranties, and has defended against lender liability counterclaims. She has also negotiated non-judicial workouts and resolutions, including discounted payoffs, deeds in lieu of foreclosure, and loan modifications. Her CMBS and foreclosure practice includes state courts across Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as Iowa, and federal courts across the country.

Bates also represents attorneys in professional liability and responsibility matters. She has defended attorneys in legal malpractice litigation in the trial and appellate courts. She has also counseled and represented attorneys facing investigations from the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.

Bates also regularly represents aviation and aerospace manufacturers in product liability actions arising out of accidents involving commercial and general aviation aircraft. She practices in both in state and federal court, including consolidated and multi-district proceedings, and has worked with foreign counsel in connection with motions to transfer to more convenient foreign forums.
