Sustainability

Perkins Coie recognizes that our actions and decisions impact the environment. It is our policy to act as a responsible global citizen by aggressively pursuing and selecting, where reasonable and appropriate, alternatives that fulfill the vital needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is our goal to help preserve and protect the world’s ecosystems and natural resources.

In order to accomplish the goals of the mission statement, Perkins Coie will focus its initiative in the following areas.

Education. Employees regularly receive tips and updates on the firm's recycling program.
Energy Conservation. Some offices and conference areas are equipped with wall sensors that turn off lights when rooms are unoccupied.
Waste Reduction and Recycling. The firm has implemented a recycling program where employees can not only recycle paper, cans and plastic bottles, but also cell phones and batteries.
Purchasing. Recycled material content is a decision factor in the firm's purchasing. Most of the firm's stationery products contain recycled content and many of the printer toner cartridges are remanufactured.
Pollution Prevention. The firm's Seattle office has served as a test site to enable a shift to "green" cleaning products. Maintenance and construction vendors are also required to use low-VOC materials. Many of the firm's printing jobs come from vendors using non-toxic ink and chemicals.

Other Sustainable Initiatives

The firm will seek opportunities to be active on sustainability initiatives in the communities in which we have offices . This will include appropriate civic activities, as well as pro bono projects as available.
